Designing Dashboards That Drive Decisions Instead of Decorating Numbers
A good management view reduces question time and reveals where intervention is required.

Write down the decision the dashboard supports: reorder an item, follow a branch, escalate a customer, or resolve delay. A metric without a related decision becomes a number to watch.
Define every KPI with formula, source, owner, and refresh timing. Conflicting sales or stock definitions destroy trust regardless of visual quality.
Show trend, comparison, and target, then allow movement from total to cause. A red card without the underlying orders or customers does not support action.
Begin with a small set and test it in a real management meeting. Remove what changes no decision and add an alert or workflow when variance needs ownership.
