What Makes a Digital Approval Auditable?

An Approve button alone does not create a reliable audit trail.

What Makes a Digital Approval Auditable?

Approval must reference a specific document version. If price or quantity changes after the decision, the revised version needs an explicit reapproval rule.

Show the approver the required context: requester, budget, attachments, exceptions, and earlier decisions. Hiding information may speed the click while weakening the decision.

Record user identity, role, time, decision, comment, and delegation path. Do not rely on a typed name; authority should come from an authenticated account and role.

Define rejection, expiry, absence, and escalation without bypassing policy. Auditability means being able to reconstruct what happened and why.
